"Fixing the world, one patient at a time."

The BEST Assistive Technology evaluation

Directly and indirectly, through the use of simple or sophisticated devices, technology is playing a continuously greater role in people’s lives. It can increase productivity and independence by facilitating the performance of routine tasks, simplifying more complex tasks, and allowing consumers to carry out activities with greater speed and less physical energy. It can increase their knowledge, understanding, and participation by expanding their access to information, places, and people.

While technology, by definition, is assistive, it is especially important for individuals with disabilities because of its potential to reduce or eliminate barriers that interfere with access to equal opportunities. Technology enables and empowers these persons and their families because it holds the promise of greater participation in meaningful developmental, educational, social, recreational, and vocational experiences. With the help of technology, what most consumers are able to do quite naturally, and so take for granted, such as moving about, listening, speaking, reading, writing, playing, socializing, and work, becomes, at last, achievable for many individuals with disabilities. Technology thus permits them to focus on abilities and possibilities instead of disabilities.

Assistive Technology Evaluations are dedicated to helping disabled people overcome their disability as it relates to competing on an even basis with their non-disabled peers in the work place and school. BEST Associates is about “Leveling the playing field” with computer based assistive technology, assessment services, and training. These exciting tools can be valuable in the office, academic, or home environments.

Accessibility Evaluation
This is a comprehensive Assistive Technology Evaluation. There are literally thousands of products available to those with disabilities that will enable them to operate at the highest level of efficiency at home, in school, and in the workplace. Yet there is seldom a “one size fits all” solution, as each individual has their own combination of unique abilities and disabilities. For this reason the “Accessibility Evaluation” is recommended to personalize the technology of your consumer in order to specifically address the areas in which they need particular assistance and determine the most efficient and cost effective system configuration for that individual. The evaluation process begins with a face-to-face meeting with the individual, observing their abilities and disabilities firsthand and gaining their specific input on what works best for them. BEST Associates then prepares a full evaluation with our team of specialists, determining the best choice of technology and training to meet the specific needs of the individual. Our team will then present a formal, written evaluation, as well as a complete estimated cost of accommodations, manufacturer name, and product code. We do not represent, sell, or are on a commission basis with any product manufacturer.

The BEST Training Programs
